For Summer and Skin, we created a balm to enhance days spent in fresh air and sunshine. We chose Lavender and Rose Geranium, both grown in Harris - Lavender for its calming, anti-inflammatory and anti-septic properties and Rose Geranium as an analgesic and anti-bacterial presence. They are a clean, healing combination. Our Lavender, fresh, herby and floral blends beautifully with the rose-soft lemony, green scent of Rose Geranium.
Urtica urens will relieve prickly heat, rashes and soothe house-hold burns.
Cantharis is wonderfully calming for scalds and sunburn. To help with falls and wounds and to speed up skin regeneration, we put in Calendula, another great anti-septic. Hypericum will also encourage the skin to heal without scarring. It’s well known by its herbal name, St. John's Wort, for its capacity to help with emotional nervousness, depression and irritability following injury, stress or shock.
How to use
Apply liberally to affected skin for rapid relief. Reapply as necessary.

Moisturising and calming, this is lovely to soothe accidental sunburns.
Whilst on holiday on the Isle of Harris I purchased this cream to calm some redness for too much sun! Beautiful to apply, the aroma and feel immediately felt right and it did all that was promised. It's my 'go to' now and I would highly recommend it.
I used this product very recently after spending five days outside in the recent Spring sunshine.
I had been moving around cleaning patios and paths, sanding and oiling furniture, standing to clean an umbrella. Only my face, neck, hands and lower arms were exposed, but they were very red at the end of each day, I hadn’t applied sunscreen because some of the activity was under an umbrella.
This was brilliant as a post dusty, hot, exposed skin relief.
The smell is beautiful, the texture is smooth and it melts into the skin without feeling greasy.
I used on face, hands, neck and my arms, it soothed and calmed and I have a glow to the areas.
I normally have used yoghurt or aftersun and a damp towel , the pot is small so I suspect for a two week sunshine holiday and a family, you would need a larger size.

This balm is wonderful addition to any first aid kit . It really calms and soothes the skin after sun exposure or any time your skin is irritated .
