Therapy at A.S Apothecary
Therapy at A.S Apothecary
I'm delighted to be offering therapy at the Apothecary. I'm a specialist in women's health and particularly Menopause. My approach is an individualised, effective, gentle combination of traditions that work beautifully together: Homeopathy, Bush, Bach and Findhorn Flower Essences and Herbs, dispensed as remedies, teas, tinctures and balms.
Appointments are by zoom if you're off the islands or in person in Leverburgh initially and then from Spring 2026 I'll be working from the stunning therapy room in Northton.

Hello & Welcome
Welcome to my practice in Harris. I'm so pleased to be offering online consultations and in person meetings in Leverburgh on Fridays. It feels really wonderful to be working with women again on individualised treatments to help and support you through life's journey.
You'll see that my fee is £85 for all consultations plus prescription, but if you can't pay that amount, please don't feel excluded I'll always find a way to help, just drop me an email to amanda@asapoth.com
My Experience
My work embraces Homeopathy which I studied at the South Downs School of Homeopathy for 4 years to gain a licence to practice, Herbalism that I have studied over a lifetime, gaining a real understanding of the healing power of plants. I use Bach, Bush and Findhorn Essences that work so gently in harmony with the body and my own blends of balms, creams, ointments and aromatic waters. I am a very experienced practitioner.
I'm also a Birth Doula, having trained with Michel Odent. Although I don't offer this service any more, I'm very happy to work with women during pregnancy, birth and beyond.
I've had thriving practices in Sussex and Cyprus treating people over many years. Now I've finally found the space to resume this precious part of my work in Harris and with the advent of Zoom, I can work with people living anywhere.

My Approach to Women's Health
Particularly during the peri-menopause and menopause, I see that the options offered to women are so limited, often boiling down to HRT or not HRT, but there is so much that can be done to manage the symptoms of menopause and make the process of change feel positive and empowering.
For the years after menopause, which often coincide with managing ageing parents and grandchildren, there is also little support. These are often life-changing times when good treatment options are needed more than ever.
This is where a multi-disciplinary approach to health really helps, allowing for invidualised treatments to give you the specific help you need on a physical but also mental/emotional level.
How it works

Initial Consultation
Initial consultations usually take around an hour to an hour and a half. This is an in depth case taking because i need to fully
understand your history. We'll discuss symptoms you are experiencing, how they
are affecting you and I'll create an initial plan. If your case is very complex, I might not prescribe in the session but take a few days to work on it to ensure I offer you the most effective solution.
For your peace of mind, rest assured that all
consultations are absolutely confidential. All notes are hand written and stored in a locked cabinet - I'm the only person who sees them.
It's very important to understand that I will never suggest that you stop taking any prescribed medication, that is between you and your GP. Equally I never prescribe anything that will interact with the
medication you are taking. This is in part, why a full history is so important.

Follow up appointment
the second consultation is usually shorter and generally 3-4 weeks after the initial
consultation to give time for the prescription to work. During this session,
we'll assess how things are going and I'll work out the best combination of
remedies to take you forward.
If you need to contact me between appointments, email is best at amanda@asapoth.com and if I need to call we can arrange that. I don't see people without an appointment.

Ongoing Support
After the second consultation I usually suggest monthly follow ups to make sure everything is on track. If you need to see me more or less frequently that can be arranged. If you need a top up of your prescription, that can be arranged too, you just need to email me at amanda@asapoth.com
